Maya Yoshida Presented With Mizuno Wave Ignitus 3 Black-Out

Maya Yoshida Presented With Mizuno Wave Ignitus 3 Black-Out

Southampton defender Maya Yoshida will begin Mizuno's roll-out for their forthcoming and hotly anticipated Wave Ignitus 3 today. The Saints centre back has been handed an exclusive pair of black-out models to wear for his sides final Premier League game of the season.

The Japan international, who has enjoyed a breakthrough debut season with Southampton, is one of the league's recognised Ignitus players. SoccerBible was on hand when Mizuno presented Maya with the boots - the same boots he will wear against Stoke City and in Japan's upcoming international fixture against Bulgaria.

Yoshida, who signed for Southampton last summer from Dutch side VVV-Venlo, has worn the Wave Ignitus for the best part of his professional career. "The best thing about the Ignitus has to be the fit and how lightweight they are. I also really like the design."

Now 24-years-old and a settled figure within Japan's international set up, Yoshida finds himself as one of Mizuno's key ambassadors for the Ignitus range. For the Wave Ignitus 3, he's been heavily involved with the development of the boot. "I often talk to the staff at Mizuno about how to improve the boots and on the new Ignitus I worked closely with them on getting the fit and stability right."

Since being handed the boots, Yoshida has been getting to grips with how they perform in training. "Normally I test a new boot for around one week, but because this is a new model I'll test it for a little longer to get a good feel for the boot before I wear it in a Premier League match."

"I'm a defender and can't afford to slip in games so for me grip is very important. Premier League pitches tend to be slippery due to the rain and sprinklers, so if your grip isn't good then you can cost your team points. Other boots that I've worn in the past get heavy in the wet, but the Ignitus is much better which is very important for me."

The Mizuno Wave Ignitus 3, which is due for full release later this summer, will bring new advancements to the brands premier power boot. A newly layered and textured fore-foot has been redesigned alongside the boots staple Mukaiten panel. We'll be given a full tech run-down on the boots features ahead of their global launch.
