Tech Talk: Nike FC247 Collection With Collin Eder
FC247 has been one of Nike's key innovation stories so far this year. Their re-branded Fives range has taken on a new life with three new shoes designed to bring ultimate performance benefits to your small sided game.
On our recent trip to Berlin, we sat down with Senior Product Manager for Nike Football, Collin Eder, to discuss each shoe in more detail and gain an exclusive insight into Nike's new range of football performance and street footwear.
The Nike Bomba Finale II, Elastico Finale II Lunar Gato II shoes each deliver new design innovations. "For the Gato we wanted to amplify agility through the forefoot flexibility, then blend that with comfort and cushioning. So taking a running technology in Lunar and totally changing it for football."
"We wanted to look at how to blend some of the traditional things you see in football boots with totally new innovations. We have the leather forefoot blended with Hyperfuse technology, which allows us to create a more lightweight and breathable package."
The Elastico Finale II stands out as the most stylistic shoe of the pack. "This is a pretty amazing product actually. When you think about how this compares to its predecessor, the Elastico Finale I, it's 40% less components and it's over 20% lighter. The big innovation story here though is the NikeSkin technology. NikeSkin allows us to use less materials and to make it a lot lighter. It's a pretty crazy product!"
The headline model of the FC247 range is the Nike Bomba Finale II. "The big innovation with the Bomba is the NikeSkin so when we were analysing the small sided game we noticed that the players have a lot more interactions with the ball. We wanted to create a better feeling with the ball. NikeSkin is a material that molds to your foot and feels sock-like, but it also offers durability and protection."
