Nike Premier Story | Collin Eder

Nike Premier Story | Collin Eder

The Nike machine has kicked into overdrive in recent weeks. It's easy to get caught up in the madness of the modern boot world, but the recent arrival of the Nike Premier has pulled on the heartstrings of every nostalgic boot lover. They're a welcome reminder of how the game used to be.

Nike's innovators have turned back the dial to deliver a boot that extracts itself from the mad hustle of the modern game. The boots currently stand a few weeks shy of their European launch, but we've already spoken exclusively to Nike Football's Senior Product Manager Collin Eder about the story behind the Nike Premier.

In the last decade we've witnessed a revolution in footwear design. Nike Football's evolving approach to the game has given us innovations that wouldn't have been imaginable at the time of Nike's first ever boot model a 1971 boot called 'The Nike'. Since then Nike have consistently broken new boundaries in design and innovation so the Premier is a touch back to the days when a boot was nothing more than exquisitely soft leather, and for some players, that's all they ask for.

Eder told us how Nike is aware that there's a consumer out there that craves a natural leather product. He explained What we wanted to create was the softest most comfortable, best fitting leather product that we could.

We want to have something that doesn't change, that is a bit more timeless. The Tiempo we're changing colours, we're changing look but what we wanted to do here was create something timeless, create something that a consumer can come back to and know what they are going to get.

When it came to feedback Eder went on to say how intense the testing period has been, Nike don't just release a boot until it's absolutely on the money; We've done a lot of testing with this product, the feedback has been really good, the first thing players notice is how soft the leather is, they love how it forms to your foot and maintains that softness that players are looking for. The boot is 100% leather.

Nike's objective was to create a product made of the best natural leather which they could offer at a realistic price tag. Impeccability built, Collin confirmed what we suspected, the Premier is destined to be a classic for seasons to come.
