Global Football Boots Spotting - 15/07/13
Pre-season has officially kicked off, the running trainers are put away and out comes the ball and boots. Premier League teams are in friendly action, new signings are on show and with a new season comes new boots. Find out which players have been switching footwear over the summer along with a few custom spots and new colour updates...
Thomas Broich (A-League All Stars) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX |
Thomas Broich of the A-League All Stars team in Australia is one of the first players we've spotted wearing the new black/white Nike Mercurial Vapor IX. Broich is wearing the leather-like versions and we're expecting them to be a massive hit with players, albeit it with minimum contracted Nike athlete support. A black and white Mercurial has been in demand for a long time and Nike have finally delivered with, as expected, top results. |
Phil Jones (Manchester United) adidas Nitrocharge 1.0 |
New boots, same faces. Phil Jones has started Manchester United's pre-season tour of Thailand wearing adidas Nitrocharge boots instead of his PUMA Kings he's been wearing for the last few seasons. We're not sure if Jones will kick off the Premier League campaign in adidas' new silo as pre-season is prime time for players to try something new but despite the best efforts on the Singha All Stars XI chap's face, Jonesy still manages to out-face him. |
Sandy Iannella (Italy) adidas Predator LZ Custom |
The Euro 2013 Women's Championships are under-way in Sweden and Italy's Sandy Iannella has caught our eye by wearing a custom pair of Predator LZ boots. The summery orange/white/blue paint job stood out as the Italians continued their unbeaten start in the competition by overcoming Denmark 2-1. |
Bobby Zamora (QPR) Under Armour Blur CBN III Leather |
Bobby Zamora was in action as QPR travelled to Exeter City for their tour of the South West of England. Zamora, a long serving Under Armour, has been hooked up with the recently released Blur Carbon III boots in leather. A top white and silver colourway and the first Under Armour speed boot to be design in leather. There was no luck in front of goal for Big Bob the League Two side held the Hoops to a 0-0 stalemate in the heat. |
Nilla Fischer (Sweden) PUMA evoSPEED 1.2 |
If you're still itching for some competitive football to watch then the Women's Euro 2013 tournament is currently in play in Sweden. The host country look to have been sorted out by PUMA with the new women's colourway of the evoSPEED. Nilla Fischer was amongst a few of the players sporting the bright footwear and the centre half netted a brace as Sweden smashed Finland 5-0 on Saturday. |
Alex (Chicago Fire) adidas Nitrocharge 1.0 |
It may be all about pre-season in the UK but across the pond it's all competitive action as the MLS takes shape. Chicago Fire's Brazilian Alex has been wearing the black/silver/electricity adidas Nitrocharge colourway, another top paint job that hasn't seen much time in the UK but we're predicting more sightings when the season kicks off next month. A boot that looks that good will always be popular. |
Paul Lawson (Motherwell) adidas Predator LZ |
The new white/red Predator has been widely received as the best looking colour update on the new look Pred so far and Motherwell's Paul Lawson was kitted up in a pair as his side crossed the border at the weekend to take on Doncaster Rovers. Neither team could find the back of the net in a bit of a pre-season theme at the weekend with players struggling to find any tempo in the UK heatwave. |
Phil Neville (Manchester United) Nike Premier |
Phil Neville has followed David Moyes to United and joined the coaching staff at Old Trafford. Ahead of the new season it looks as if the United staff have been kitted out in the new Nike Premier boots, even Moyes himself has been wearing the new silo. An old school leather boot, black and white, ideal for coaches as well as players. |
Razvan Rat (West Ham United) adidas Predator LZ |
New West Ham signing Razvan Rat was given a run out as the Hammers took on Boreham Wood. The Romanian international was laced up in the new black/green Predator LZ, the most subtle colourway on the Pred update that as of yet hasn't seen an awful lot of on pitch time. The West Ham boys have been quick to give their new teammate the nickname Roland. Hashtag Bantz. |
Michael Keane (Manchester United) Nike Tiempo Legend IV |
Manchester United youngster Michael Keane has been in action in United's tour of Thailand wearing the new Tiempo colourway. The Tiempo was released along side a Mercurial, CTR and HyperVenom as part of a black pack. It's definitely an edge towards the old school Tiempo and one we reckon will be popular. With Fergie gone we wonder whether the United kids will be aloud to wear coloured boots again? |
Leonie Maier (Germany) adidas f50 adizero |
Another boot spot from the Euro 2013 tournament comes from Germany's Leonie Maier. The defender has been wearing the previous f50 model in a women's specific colourway, which we reckon a few lads wouldn't hesitate to wear. Germany are yet to concede a goal and are tipped for silverware. |
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal) Nike HyperVenom |
Another high profile switch ahead of the new season. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has recently traded in his Nike CTR boots for Nike's HyperVenom, the Ox joins the likes of Neymar, Welbeck and Rooney to make the move into the new Silo and was in action as Arsenal christened their new away kit by tonking the 'Indonesian Dream Team' 7-0 on their Asia tour. |
