Global Boots Spotting - 05/08/13
The hottest boots on show from a custom crazy week.

The English Football League kicked off this weekend and it looks like a few players have been busy creating custom boots over the summer. After a pre-season of chopping and changing footwear players laced up in their boot of choice for the big kick off and there was mixture of custom jobs, tried and tested classics and new releases on show...

Omar Gonzalez (MLS All Stars) adidas Predator LZ Custom

The MLS All Stars took on AS Roma in their annual match and adidas kitted up their players in custom miadidas boots to mark the occasion. LA Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez was wearing a one off pair of crazy custom Predators as his team of MLS players lost 3-1 to their Italian opponents.

Andy Butler (Walsall) adidas Predator Incurza II

The football league kicked off this weekend in England and the lower leagues always throw up some random boot spots. Walsall skipper Andy Butler laced up in a pair of adidas Predator Incurza II boots as he lead his side to a 3-1 win over Tranmere. The Incurza is the rugby version of the Predator LZ so it's a pretty random choice from Butler.

Felipe Melo (Galatasaray) PUMA King

Galatasaray's Felipe Melo was in action at the weekend in the Emirates Cup wearing the adidas Nitrocharge, but the Brazilian kicked off the week in a pair of coloured in PUMA King boots. Melo played against Napoli in a pair of Kings that had clearly been given some felt tip treatment. Melo had been wearing the original colourway of the Kings, so maybe the red-outs were a transition into adidas after a deal had been agreed?

Tony Beltran (MLS All Stars) adidas f50 adizero Custom

Another MLS All Star wearing miadidas boots against Roma was Real Salt Lake full back Tony Beltran. A custom pair of white/pink/green f50's were created for Beltran to wear against Roma and out of all three designs we reckon the f50 comes out on top, it's definitely more toned down than the Nitrocharge and Pred.

Junior Hoilett (QPR) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX

QPR have managed to keep the majority of the big hitters from last season despite their relegation to the Championship. One of those is Junior Hoilett, the tricky forward was wearing a complete black out Vapor in the Premier League so he must have been happy when Nike released the black/white Mercurial this summer. He'll save a few quid on permanent markers anyway.

Jon Otsemobor (MK Dons) adidas Predator LZ Custom

MK Dons rounded off their pre-season campaign earlier in the week with an impressive 1-0 win over a Spurs XI. The pick of the boots spotting came from Dons defender Jon Otsemobor, the former Liverpool man has personalised a pair of Pred LZ's over the summer to match his clubs home kit. Top marks from us.

Neil Collins (Sheffield United) Nike CTR360 Maestri III Custom

Sheffield United kicked off the 2013/14 football league season on Friday night beating Notts County 2-1 at Bramall Lane as they look to make it third time lucky in gaining promotion back to the Championship. The Blades' centre half Neil Collins has been busy on Nike iD during his time off to create a top looking pair of CTR's, another decent kit/boot match up.

Joey Barton (QPR) adidas Nitrocharge 1.0

After tweeting "I will not be playing in the Championship next season, some strange people think that I'll be playing in the Championship next season. Good one! QPR might, I won't! #fact" loveable midfielder Barton turned out for QPR on Saturday. #awkward. Barton, returning from his loan spell at Marseille might just be looking to get some game time whilst his future gets sorted, either way, he's still chewing on a big fat slice of his own words.

Henri Anier (Motherwell) adidas f50 adizero

The new blackout f50 is one of a bunch of top black boot releases this summer, you simply can't beat a black speed boot, especially a leather one. The problem with black out boots is that they don't receive the player support they deserve at the top level but when you give non-contracted players a choice they start to show their true colours. Motherwell's Henri Aniel was laced up in a pair as he scored the only goal in his side's victory at Hibs.

Darren Pratley (Bolton Wanderers) PUMA King Top 1982

Easily the coolest boot spot of the week; with so many flashy new colourways on the scene and don't get us wrong they're top draw too, but Darren Pratley's boot choice is different kind of cool. The PUMA King, in black and white, with a tongue is considered by many older players as the ultimate football boot and credit to the Bolton man for keeping them in the game. A classic.

Liam Palmer (Sheffield Wednesday) adidas Predator LZ Custom

We're aware of Liam Palmer's boot collection, it's impressive. We saw him wear a few custom designs last season when he was on loan at Tranmere and he's kicked off this season with Wednesday in the same fashion as he finished last, wearing top custom boots. Liam Instagrammed us a pic of these when he first received them and they look as good on pitch as they do in the box.
