Buffon Marks Record Cap With Special PUMA King Boots
Buffon's '136 Caps' PUMA King Boots
PUMA mark the occasion with commemorative King boots.
On Tuesday night Gianluigi Buffon won his 136th international cap for Italy, equalling Fabio Cannavaro's appearance record for the Azzurri. The 35-year-old was presented with a special pair of PUMA King football boots before he took to the field in Italy's 2014 World Cup Qualifier match against the Czech Republic.
As of this season, the legendary shot-stopper had traded in his PUMA PowerCat boots in favour of the King model, ending his long association with the PowerCat silo. Personalised with his name and record '136 Caps' figure, these are certainly one pair he'll look after!
Buffon made his first senior appearance for the Nazionale aged just 19 in Moscow when he replaced the injured Gianluca Pagliuca midway through Italy's first leg of the 1998 World Cup qualifying playoff against Russia. Since then he's been Italy's no.1 for four World Cups, helping Italy to win the tournament in 2006.
He's a keeper every football fan would love to seeing guarding their teams goal. Congrats to Gigi, a true legend of the game.
