We speak to adidas Global Senior Product Manager Antoine Hadjimanolis about one of the most unique football boots of all time.


The limited edition adidas Yamamoto adizero F50 is hands down one of the craziest football boots we've ever seen. Visually, it's a masterpiece but the design comes with a story and to get a better understanding of that story we spoke to adidas Global Senior Product Manager Antoine Hadjimanolis at adidas' Global HQ in Herzogenaurac, Germany.

Just 2000 pairs of the adidas Yamamoto adizero F50 boots will be available globally which Antoine describes as "Pure premium collectors items". On the relationship between adidas and Yohji Yamamoto Antoine explained "Our partnership with Yamamoto is a long-term partnership, he's been designing outstanding items for our Y-3 label and now he's bringing it to football."



Antoine continued "It's simply an outstanding design that we've never seen on an adidas football boot before." We can't argue with that. "This is what we do, we want to be innovative, drive conversation and this boot is definitely going to bring it." Innovative, check. Conversation driver, check. Consider it brought Antoine.





Talking about the message behind the design Antoine explained "The design inspiration comes from the ancient times in Japan where the Gods and Emperors used a lion as a guard, and this is what Yamamoto has explored. The design is present on the boot and also comes in a very special box."
