The new adidas Yamamoto F50 adizero has been at the centre of a busy week for adidas. They'll go down as one of the brand's most unique boot designs, but for Yohji Yamamoto, this isn't the first time the Japanese designer has leant his style to the adidas F50.
In 2006, the mind behind the adidas Y-3 label was busy creating an exclusive line of +F50 Tunit boots, each with their own unique animal print. The Dragon, Wolf and in this case Tiger designs formed a premium collection that was limited to just 1000 pairs. Now we can now bring you closer than ever to each stand-out boot.
The adidas Y-3 +F50 Tunit YY Pack was Yamamoto's first foray into football boots with inspiration was taken from Japanese artist Taishi Hayashi. Each boot came presented in a cage brandished with a plaque embossed with the adidas logo and Yamamoto's signature. The exclusive collaboration took football boot design to a new level.
The premium collection remains one of adidas' most exclusive boot lines. Restricted to exclusive stockists at the time, the boots were quickly snapped up by collectors before disappearing from the scene.
The designs perfectly matched the adidas F50.6 Tunit football boots which were fully interchangeable, and could be built upon arrival at the ground depending on the playing conditions. As well as either a 'Pro-Lite Speed' or 'Comfort' chassis, the adidas Tunit system incorporated SG, FG and HG studs, giving you three boots in one.
The +F50.6 Tunits saw an array of different designs, from standard colourways to country inspired designs to coincide with the 2006 World Cup to these incredible Y-3 collaborations.
