Nike Nigeria Kit Shortlisted for Prestigious Beazley Design of the Year Award

Having captured the game on the eve of the World Cup, the Nike Nigeria kit has received more positive headlines as it has been nominated for a Beazley Design of the Year Award with is run in conjunction with the Design Museum in London.

There's no denying the impact the Nigeria 2018 Nike 'Naija' collection had on the game. It is a collection that will stay capsuled for generations and the success story will be one both football and fashion industries will look at it as a new benchmark for where on pitch apparel meets off pitch style. With that in mind, it's right that this success story continues to receive plaudits long after the World Cup has ended. The 'Beazley Design of the Year Award' is one that celebrates ideas as much as it does creative delivery and the Nigeria 2018 kit will sit alongside a wealth of inspired pieces of design as one of 87 nominees. In total, their are six categories in the competition that include: architecture, digital, fashion, graphics, product and transport.

Sitting in the fashion category, it shows exactly where the game currently finds itself. Also included in the category are pieces from Palomo Spain’s SS 2018 Menswear collection, The Rainbow Check by Christopher Bailey for Burberry and Fenty Beauty by Rihanna.

While the Nigeria 'Naija' collection may have hit all the right notes visually, it also was delivered with a strong message of inclusivity and energetic Nigerian spirit. The Beazley Designs of the Year will be on show at the Design Museum in London from the 12th September 2018 to the 6th January 2019. The winner of each category along with an overall winner will be announced on the 15th November 2018. You can see more about the Design Museum here.
