Philadelphia Union Launch Shirt Tag Initiative

Taking strides into new territory, MLS franchise Philadelphia Union celebrate their tenth season by announcing that they’ve tapped some local Philadelphia influencers to help design the back-of-neck tags on their brand new 2019 jersey – and fans will get to pick their favourites, with the top 10 being available for retail.

For the first time in MLS history, the Union’s new 2019 kit will feature fan-chosen back tags that will appear below the neckline on the rear of the jersey. These jerseys will then be worn by the players and will be available for fans to purchase.

The Union worked on several designs with the likes of Philly rapper Freeway, alternate rock band The Wonder Years, the Sons of Ben, Bonedaddy’s Tattoo (the club’s Chief Tattoo Officer), and Philly power couple Zach and Julie Ertz. All of these designs have been influenced and curated by their tastes and impressions of Philadelphia.

The designs will be unveiled one set at a time over the coming weeks for fans to vote on via social media. Nine tags in total will be chosen with the U having picked the tenth already.

Voting opens on 13 December so head here to have your say.
