In a move to conquer a continent, Umbro have announced kit deals with the African nations of Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. The respective deals are huge for each nation, and they follow on from several deals that the Double Diamond have already made with some of the biggest African-based club sides.

British brand Umbro have made the move to have a bigger influence on the African continent, on both a national and club level. They've recently announced a kit deal with former Africa Cup of Nations winners and four time CECAFA Cup winners, Ethiopia, as well a deal with six time COSAFA Cup winners, Zimbabwe and a ‘long-term’ partnership with Botswana.

News of these deals follow club-level captures of some of the most popular teams in Africa, including Zambian champions ZESCO United, Kenyan side AFC Leopards, along with one of the continents' most successful clubs in Egyptian side Al Ahly SC.

It is possible that Umbro will be looking to capitalise on the increasing popularity of the African Nations and the opportunities provided by their vibrant colour schemes, as seen with the incredibly popular 2018 Nigeria kit from Nike. It certainly opens up new levels of creativity for Umbro designers. Let's see what they've got...

The deals with Umbro are set to commence in April 2019, so watch this space for kit news.
