In case you've been living under a rock or something, this Saturday is the Champions League final, and it’s an all-English affair as Liverpool take on Tottenham in Madrid. As if it needed any more hype surrounding it, BT Sports have teamed up with English recording artist Wretch 32 for a promo video with all the feels, titled ‘The Road To Madrid’.
The promo song charts the 2018/19 competition to date, detailing the journey to the final and the various flashpoints from the tournament so far. From early setbacks for both of the finalists to two of the most memorable comebacks in Champions League history, Wretch 32 captures it all, spitting his lyrics with a spine tingling ease. As well as the two finalists, there’s honourable mentions for the other English teams along with PSG and Neymar, Juve and Ronaldo, Barca and Messi, and the impressive Ajax.
The game itself is the second all-English European Cup final, coming 11 years after Manchester United and Chelsea competed in Moscow. While Liverpool are set to compete in their second consecutive Champions League final, Spurs are in uncharted territory. Both teams will be desperate for success, but only one can lift the trophy. Yeah, we’ve talked enough: roll on Saturday night!
