Nike Reveals Plans To Make PPE For Medical Workers

Following its recent pledge of over $15 million USD towards the fight against Covid-19, Nike have now announced that they are creating personal protective equipment (PPE) for support doctors and nurses amid the coronavirus outbreak.

In a conference call on Tuesday, where the company reported better-than-expected results for Q3, CEO John Donahoe announced that Nike is prototyping face shields to help healthcare professionals during the Coronavirus outbreak with guidance from the healthcare workers at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU).

"Companies like Nike need to do our part," Donahoe said on the call. ”Based on needs identified by the teams and health professionals at Oregon Health & Science University, our teammates are working right now about how to best help, including prototyping face shields of OHSU and others.

The move comes after Nike officially announced over $15 million USD in donations to help battle the disease’s spread and provide aid to those in need. The Swoosh also continued to encourage the fight against the disease, accomplished by everyone doing their bit and staying at home.
