The Next Generation Of adidas Football Talent Give Us Their Playlists

Ready to break the game whenever it returns, Noni Madueke, Dennis Cirkin, and Tino Anjorin – three of adidas’s brightest young talents – have supplied us with the tracks that get them into the groove for match day.

On the back of Beth England, Rachel Daly, and Millie Turner all supplying us with their match day playlists, we’ve now got three up and coming young stars in the form of PSV’s Noni Madueke, Tottenham’s Dennis Cirkin, and Chelsea’s Tino Anjorin, all of whom have made the step up to first team action for their respective teams over the last few months prior to lockdown.

Names to make a note of, as they’re sure to make an impact in the future. And first up is Chukwunonso ‘Noni’ Madueke. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder began his career at Tottenham, captaining their under 16 side and making his under 18 debut at the age of 15. From there he rejected an offer from Manchester United in favour of a move on to the Eredivisie with PSV, and it’s here that the young Englshman of Nigerian descent is forging his career.

How would I describe your playlist?

It's a mix between American and British R&B. Got a banger from Holland in there aswell, along with one drill song. Varying things up a bit.

Why have you picked them?

These are probably my ten favourite tracks at the moment ... all of them are bangers. Simple as that.

Tell us about your relationship with music?

I like to listen to music all the time. If you're around me you’ll know I’m always bumpin' something. It plays a pretty big part in my life.

What was the first track or album you bought?

Drake - Take Care (deluxe)

What else are you doing to stay busy?

The usual really. Kicking about when I can, poppin' guys on FIFA, and watching Netflix.

Next up is Dennis Cirkin, a talented left-back who reads the game well and isn't shy of pushing forward to support the attack. In January 2020, following a number of impressive performances for the Spurs youth sides, some of them as captain, Cirkin was named on the first team bench for the first time in a 2-1 FA Cup third round replay win over Middlesbrough. Hitting high at 17, he then had to deal with celebrating his 18th in lockdown. Tough break. So what tunes got him through…

1)Leaked – Lil Tjay

2) Global Now – Nafe Smallz

3) Forget That – Lil Baby feat. Rylo Rodriguez

4) QUARANTINE CLEAN – Turbo, Gunna, Young Thug

5) G Love – Krept & Konan, WizKid

6) Toosie Slide – Drake

7) Before U – Sonny Fodera, King Henry, AlunaGeorge

8) Exchange – Bryson Tiller

9) Playing Games – Summer Walker ft. Bryson Tiller

10) Demons – Skepta, Chip, Young Ads, Dirtbike LB

How would you describe your playlist?

It's a variety of tracks, all depending on the mood I’m in. On match days, most of the time I listen to songs that motivate me, like American hip hop. On more relaxed days I listen to some R&B or if it’s summer time I like a bit of house. More recently I’ve been listening to older tracks like Lil Tjay-Leaked 'cos they remind me of last summer, which was a good time.

How big is music for you?

I often depend on music for motivation and it works all the time. You’d never catch me running or doing gym without some form of music. On the other hand, it can relax me as well, with artists such as Bryson Tiller, Summer Walker. Slow music is a vibe in the evenings.

When did you first get into music?

I was around u13 and I went on a tour with Spurs. The older lads were playing some rap before a game and I got a buzz off it, that’s when I first started to get into music and find out what type of tunes I’m into.

How else have you been keeping yourself busy over the last few weeks?

Most of my free time comes in the evening at the moment. Apart from listening to music, I like to play abit of COD – especially warzone with some of the teammates – go for a walk with the dog, and I’ve even resorted to reading books too.

First album or track you bought?

I’ve never bought an album or track before… always had Spotify

Yeah, alright Dennis, make us feel old why don't you...

And completing the trio is Tino Anjorin. A Chelsea man since he joined at under seven level, Anjorin is another product of the academy to make a bow for the first team, making his debut for the Blues in the 7–1 EFL Cup win against Grimsby Town.

1) Toosie Slide – Drake

2) Bored in the House – Tyga x Curtis Roach

3) Ei8ht Mile – DigDat x Aitch

4) Yes Indeed – Lil Baby x Drake

5) Hookah – Young thug x Tyga

6) The Motto – Drake

7) Lonely – Speaker knockers

8) Jesus Walks – Kanye west

9) Headlines – Drake

10) Fire Sale – Drew Meleen x Dead Forest

Tell us about your playlist and what music means to you…

I chose Toosie slide and Bored in the House because they are such easy songs to vibe to and dance a little bit when you're listening to them. Plus they both came out near enough the same time and are both top songs. Also Bored in the House just sums up my life at the minute!

I have a couple older songs in there such as Hookah and Lonely by Speaker Knockers – those two remind me of the younger days of my Chelsea academy career when I was about 12-14. I would always listen to them two songs everywhere, whether it was going to school or going to a game (I can sing them both word for word!)

Drake is then my favourite artist of all time. I love every album and near enough every song he releases. They are my favourite three Drake songs that I love plus a Lil Baby feature in Yes Indeed

Who is another artist I like but I had to put at least four Drake songs in there because the majority of the music I listen to is Drake.

Jesus walks (Kanye west) – I really only started to listen to Kanye recently and understanding what his message was in his songs. Recently I have become more religious but at the same time as me finding out my religion and understanding Christianity I came across one of Kayne’s interviews and he was talking about religion and what it meant and how he found it so I decided to go listen to Kanye a little bit more and I found Jesus walks which is perfect for the situation I was in and am in now plus it always helps when it’s a banger aswell!

Fire sale is a completely different song to what I would normally listen to but because it’s so different I like it! One of my boys back home told me to go check it out so I did and I loved it. It reminds me of where I’m from (Bournemouth) as there’s a lot of music like that, which isn’t my normal taste, but this one is a very good tune. The mixture between house and rap is perfect is this song!

What was the first album you ever bought?

The first album I bought was Drake – Take care! When I was younger my dad always used to play Drake and this was the album he played the most, so when I got my first ipod this was the very first album I downloaded because I loved it so much.

How else have you been keeping busy over the past few weeks?

I try to keep myself occupied by playing games round the house like darts or snooker, playing with my little brother, me and my boys also set up a little FIFA tournament, which kept us busy for a couple of days. I have also been drawing a little bit as well, but that’s when I get really really bored! Me and my family just got a bike so we are starting to go on little bike rides to clear our heads a little bit!
