Haaland Meets Zidane For adidas Talks

The big guns have officially been rolled out as adidas step up their pursuit of Erling Haaland. The most in demand striker in world football is open to all offers as he prepares to cash in on two monumental pay days – a new club & a new sponsor – step in Monsieur Zidane in a bid for both.

It's no secret that Haaland's deal with Nike expired in January triggering a fierce 3-way battle for his signature from Nike, adidas and PUMA. We've already listed our reasons why adidas must make Haaland their main man, and would seem the Three Stripes agree as details of a secret meeting between Haaland and Zidane at adidas HQ in Herzogenaurach come to light.

According to Bild, Haaland and his father met with Zidane and Haaland's childhood idol Michu, at the brand's famous World HQ in Germany on February 7 as the brand push hard to tie Haaland down to a long term deal. A deal that would see the player spearhead the brand into a fairer Ballon d'Or race against seemingly the other post-CR7/Messi generation frontman, Nike's Kylian Mbappé.

Should adidas lure the big man into their brand, then it would further open the door that much-speculated move to Real Madrid, a move that Zidane might just be able to help with too, albeit with Zidane hotly tipped for the PSG top job when Pochettino moves on. Perhaps that signals that PSG simply aren't a possibility for Haaland.

Of course, Haaland has also been linked with a move to PUMA, but no reports followed of the Norwegian crossing the road to pay adidas' neighbours a visit whilst he was in town. And that's before we even consider Nike not wanting to lose a player that could bag them a Ballon d'Or monopoly for years to come. It's likely Haaland will receive an offer from all three brands for his services, as well as his pick of clubs.

Stay tuned for more on Haaland's brand decision. Which brand would you go for?
