Once again pulling strings, calling favours, and lining up some of the rap scene’s finest alongside some familiar legendary faces from yesteryear, Dave has hosted the 2022 edition of his ‘Santan Cup’ tournament, taking proceedings to Rio de Janeiro in partnership with New Balance.
The Santan Cup has become a fixture in the football calendar (pandemics aside) since its debut back in 2017, with founder Santandave rounding up some of the biggest names in the UK Rap scene to face off for glory and – more importantly – bragging rights. This year saw a switch up in terms of setting, with the tournament being hosted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It also saw an elevation in status, with New Balance coming on board with the award winning artist as sponsor.
New Balance has a history of supporting grassroots football and the brand therefore stepped in to provide kits, boots and equipment for the teams competing.
Among the familiar array of faces was one Pro Evo-powerhouse striker in Adriano. The former Inter Milan and Brazil international dusted off his boots to show that he still possesses some of that famed 99 power, as he lined up in a team that paid homage to the man himself, through specially made tees.
Another kit that caught the eye was that of Dave's team, Santan FC. They were wearing the latest collaboration from New Balance x Stone Island, with the latter brand taking up position in the sponsor slot, with the Stone Island logo also acting as club crest on what is a beautifully bespoke design of brown and green hues.
A celebration of football, bringing people together in the best way, there was plenty to pore over, so check it all out below.
