Having revealed their stunning new Stockholm Edition cup shirt, Swedish style kings AIK promptly debuted the new kit and wider collection in their Svenska Cupen match against Västerås.
Always a welcome entry on the kit drop calendar, AIK unveiled their latest special edition shirt last week, further consolidating their position as one of the sharpest clubs in world football. They then wore the kit and select pieces from the wider supporting collection in their game against Västerås, which ended 1-1. Despite the result not quite being what AIK would’ve wanted, the kit absolutely shone on the big stage.
Produced together with partner Nike, the new kit pays tribute to the club’s home city, Stockholm. On the chest, there’s a pattern inspired by the Sun Table, an oil painting from the sixteenth century, which is one of the oldest known depictions of Stockholm. The raised marks on the shirt are handcrafted and made in 3D silicone to bring out the highest possible richness of detail, while the club badge also has a fabric base in black velvet. All the gold details on the shirt have been enriched with metal particles for a more prominent gold shimmer. There’s even that special execution of the brand logo, with the word “Nike” overlaid across the Swoosh, a move that seems to be reserved for AIK only in the footballing world.
Yep, this is special edition once again done absolutely right, and it will be a major addition to any kit collector’s wardrobe should they manage to lay their hands on one. Eyes peeled for further drop info.
