Confirming reports from last week, Barcelona have announced that they will wear a special edition shirt featuring Rosalía’s MOTOMAMI album logo in this weekend El Clásico to celebrate the one year anniversary of the album and the artist’s huge success on Spotify. FC Barcelona Femení will then also wear the MOTOMAMI jerseys at the women’s El Clásico on Saturday 25th March.
The story broke last week that Barcelona would follow up their Drake OVO Sound logo swap from the last El Clásico with another one this weekend, and now it’s officially been confirmed, with MOTOMAMI set to appear on the centre of the Catalan club’s jersey for both the men’s and women’s El Clásico. The Rosalía logo swap is set to be the latest activation in the partnership between Spotify and FC Barcelona, which brings the worlds of Music and Football together, offering a huge platform on which to highlight artists and their achievements.
In 2022, Rosalía was the most-streamed Spanish artist in the world on Spotify, with streams of her tracks growing by more than 110 percent year over year, and she was also the most-streamed female artist in Barcelona. Tracks from MOTOMAMI have been streamed over 1.8 billion times and additionally, Spotify listeners have added Rosalía tracks to more than 150 million user-generated playlists.
The word “MOTOMAMI” will be printed on the Blaugrana's shirts for the next El Clásico, which will take place on Sunday 19 March, in the stylised wordmark lifted straight from Rosalía’s album cover. There will be two versions of the shirt available for retail: the first will be a matchday-quality jersey with premium packaging, and there will be 1899 available, inspired by the year of FC Barcelona’s founding.
The second will be a super limited-edition, collector’s item version, signed by FC Barcelona players from both teams, and featuring a glow-in-the-dark MOTOMAMI logo. There will be a limited run of only 11 men’s and 11 women’s jerseys available (numbered 1-11), and they will be signed by all of the players who start the men’s and women’s El Clásico matches respectively.
Speaking about the collaboration, Marc Hazan, VP Partnerships, Spotify said: “We’re honoured to give up our space on the FC Barcelona shirt to celebrate ROSALÍA - the most streamed Spanish artist on Spotify in 2022. It’s a chance to continue the celebration of our unique partnership with FC Barcelona and continue to bring the worlds of football and music together.”
Juli Guiu, VP Marketing, FC Barcelona said: “Yet again our collaboration with Spotify has taken things to the next level. Seeing such a renowned artist as ROSALÍA on the beloved Barça jersey is a wonderful surprise for our fans around the world. Music and football form a special partnership with a long future ahead of them and we are happy to add another chapter to the story alongside the world's most popular music streaming platform, Spotify.”
