After six months, Umbro have drawn their ‘Make New’ up cycling campaign to a close, and of the talented individuals to enter the competition, student and aspiring designer EGOR was announced as the winner with a racer outfit created from pre-loved Umbro Speciali boots, lifestyle apparel, equipment, and accessories.

The Umbro ‘Make New’ campaign launched back in April of this year, and it saw the brand team up with designers and creators including Nouveau Nova, Tuesday Pickup, Unwanted FC and Sophie Hird to create unique, one-off projects using deadstock and pre-loved Umbro products. From boots and balls to lifestyle garments, jerseys, training wear and more, each one celebrated the skills of creators and reflected their own personalities and stories.

Talented creators were also offered the opportunity to get involved in the campaign by submitting examples of their own upcycled projects to umbro.com. From all submissions, four finalists were selected by Umbro and challenged to create their own upcycled projects from a mystery selection of Umbro products sent to them.

Each project was showcased on Umbro’s social channels, and on Saturday 7 October, Umbro followers voted for their favourite project with student and aspiring designer EGOR taking first place.

Channelling their own unique style and taking inspiration from motorcycle and racing garments, EGOR used pre-loved Umbro Speciali boots, lifestyle apparel, equipment, and accessories to create a racer outfit. The jacket features handstitched patches and taping along with lace-up details on the sleeves. The pants were constructed using a patchwork design of pieces from boots, balls, and garments.

EGOR will now join Umbro’s global influencer team, Diamond FC where they will receive regular product drops, upcycling briefs and more for one year.
