New Balance Announce The Signing Of Jordyn Huitema

Switching up the Swoosh for another American brand, NWSL and Canada star Jordyn Huitema has signed a contract with New Balance, with the 22-year old set to wear the Tekela v4+.

Those with a keen eye may have noticed Canada’s star forward, Jordyn Huitema, wearing the New Balance Tekela v4+ boots in her nation’s recent SheBelieves Cup campaign, which culminated in the clash against the USWNT in the final last week. The Seattle Reign FC forward has been a Nike athlete since she broke out, but now her change of allegiance has been confirmed, with New Balance announcing that she is the latest star to join the brand’s growing roster of athletes, which includes the recently acquired Endrick.

Speaking about the move, Jordyn said, “New Balance has built such a strong foundation of talent, and I’m honored to join the brand’s incredible roster of athletes. New Balance is growing quickly in the sport, and I'm excited to be part of the brand's future in football. Knowing we share the same goal of generating momentum around women’s football is so important to me.

Huitema made her national team debut at age 15 and scored her first international goal at 16, quickly grabbing headlines as a future star. Her leadership on the pitch played a critical role for team Canada in the 2020 Summer Olympics – she scored the only goal against Costa Rica in the qualifier, which secured Canada’s ticket to Tokyo, where the team took home gold.

Jordyn is an exceptional player and person. She epitomizes our Fearlessly Independent spirit and everything we champion as a brand,” shared Andrew McGarty, Global Director of Sports Marketing for Global Football at New Balance. “It’s an exciting time for women’s sports globally, and Jordyn will play a pivotal role in advancing our brands efforts empowering the next generation of young female athletes. The New Balance family is proud to support and amplify her voice in the community and on the world stage as we continue building on the momentum for women’s football globally.
