Club América are reportedly set to return to their old kit provider, adidas, after 25 years in the trusting hands of Nike. In honour of their successful partnership, we want to take a look back at some of the club’s best Nike kits over the past two decades.
Nike have been the trusted kit provider for Mexican giants Club América since 2000, after taking over from adidas. Fast forward to the current day and the tables have turned, as adidas are set to take over from Nike as the Liga MX side’s kit provider from January 2026. They will only gain control in 2026 due to Nike exercising their one-year extension clause, making Club América the highest paid club in Liga MX for kit sponsorship – around $10 million for 2025.
To celebrate the triumphant 25 years Nike and Club América had together, we want to take a look back at some of their best kits. Let's get into it.
01/02 Home Shirt
Starting strong with Club América's home shirt from the 2001/2002. This was Nike's second season in charge of the club's kit and they ticked all the right boxes of a classic 00's shirt. In the traditional colours of the club – blue and yellow – the shirt adorns a central logo and badge, a personal favourite. This kit saw the club be named Mexican Clausura champions for the first time in their history.
2006 Club World Cup Away Shirt
A successful tournament for the Liga MX side saw them reach the semi-finals, before unfortunately losing to Barcelona to prevent them from getting to the final. They may not have won the tournament but they definitely looked the part. This away kit flourishes in simplicity, fashioned in a navy blue with a retro yellow fold-over collar. Not to forget the strip of red down the sleeve adding a dash of colour.
08/09 Goalkeeper Kit
I think this one speaks for itself. It's hard not to love this shirt. Again Nike favour the central logo and Club América badge, surrounded by a one-of-a-kind design. What makes this shirt so unique is that Guillermo "Memo" Ochoa – Club América and Mexico national team goalkeeper – actually designed it himself. A special shirt, so much so that they homaged it with the 20/21 third shirt which was influenced by this design.
11/12 Anniversary Kit
To celebrate 95 years since the club was founded, Club América crafted a limited edition anniversary shirt. Inspired by shirts from the clubs early days, it tones down the traditional yellow of the club to a softer neutral colourway. Finished with a deep blue fold-over collar, this shirt is not to be slept on.
23/24 Third Shirt
In a season that saw the club win three trophies, players were donning a striking third shirt. Different to any kit seen on a Club América player before, the lavender colourway led them to victory throughout the season.
24/25 Away Kit
Nike's last season in charge of the clubs kit has not taken away from the quality these bring. All home, away, and third shirts are stunning pieces. However the away shirt deserves a big shoutout. On a predominantly valerian blue base, Nike has done it again with the central logo and club badge and we just can't get enough of it. The biggest standout feature of this shirt is the Club América badge repeatedly layered throughout a graphic of the americas, creating a unique design that is true to their history and culture.
21/22 Pre Match Jersey
A bit different from the rest, but it would be criminal not to include at least one of the clubs pre match jerseys. This one is a personal favourite, a simple yet stunning design. The shirt sees a printed floral graphic, creating a unique look unseen on any other kit. Brings an essence of every dad's favourite Hawaiian shirt onto the pitch.
Over to you adidas...
