Sierra Leone Home 10/12 Hummel Football Shirt

Sierra Leone Home 10/12 Hummel Football Shirt

Hummel have created this very unique looking national football shirt for Sierra Leone, set to be debuted this weekend. Designed by Hummel, the Sierra Leone home football shirt 10/12 has been inspired by the national identity of the small African nation.

Heading into their CAN 2012 qualifying match against South Africa, there is renewed optimism in Sierra Leone. Firstly, thanks to playing and drawing 1-1 with the current African Champions, Egypt, and secondly by the fact that the Leone Stars will be debuting their attention grabbing bespoke team jersey, designed by Danish sports brand hummel.

The design of the Sierra Leone football shirt takes inspiration in the name, Sierra Leone (mountain lion), the lion's head and the mountains are printed on the front of the jersey and claw marks featured in the bottom corner on the front of the shirt. The new Sierra Leone football jersey also incorporates the colours of the national flag - white, blue and green.

In Sierra Leone football makes a difference, therefore, hummel sponsors the national team the Leone Stars, and works for further social involvement in the country in cooperation with Save the Children. For every jersey sold, hummel donates 8% to Save the Children to support their projects, supporting children in Sierra Leone for a better life.

We don t believe that Leone Stars will become the next World Champion or get a lot of glamorous media coverage as some of the big teams get it. However, to us it makes sense to support the pride and the sense of community, having a national football team creates in a population, especially in a country like Sierra Leone, where people are struggling to get through even the smallest everyday matters. Says Henning Nielsen, Marketing Director at hummel International.
