Scotland Home Kit 2012-13 - adidas football shirt

The Scottish Football Association and adidas have unveiled the brand new Scotland home kit for 2012/13 matches.  The traditional dark indigo colour with hallmark adidas white three stripes has been proudly retained, but the shirt features an array of design innovations to conjure up the heart and soul of every proud Scot...

The stand-out feature of the new Scotland Home football shirt 2012, is the unique Saltire embossing which incorporates a range of sources from around Scotland that champion the Scottish FA s rich footballing history. These include the old and new Hampden Park, the Lion Rampant, the Thistle, the 1928 ball used in the 5-1 demolition of England at Wembley Stadium, the Fleur De Lis and the date 1873 - the year of the Scottish FA s foundation.

Also undergoing a re-design is the new Association kit crest, paying homage to the round badge used on the 1974 shirt worn at the World Cup in West Germany. This new adaptation of an iconic emblem of Scottish folklore features a woven badge with the embroidery applied with satin stitching. It features the Royal Standard (aka the Lion Rampant of Scotland) and marks the founding of the Scottish FA in 1873.

A polo collar has been added to the new Scotland Home shirt, secured by a snap button and featuring a printed Saltire on the back of the collar. The traditional Saltire is also complimented on the front, where it has been embroidered on the front placket of the collar.

Advancements in technology have yet again allowed adidas to push the boundaries in the development of their apparel giving the Scotland players an extra edge on the pitch as well as looking the part. The players  kits will incorporate adidas  cutting edge TechFit technology, to help improve speed, increase endurance capabilities and enhance awareness. This works by stabilizing and focusing the muscles  energy to generate explosive acceleration and deliver maximum power output.

The shirts also feature adidas ClimaCool technology, a mixture of heat and moisture controlling materials, ventilation channels and 3D fabrics which improve air flow to the skin in the key heat zones.

The shorts of the 2012-13 Scotland home kit are white, incorporate ClimaCool technology, and feature a tie chord and Scottish FA crest. The traditional colour rotation for the kit is completed with Poppy coloured socks. The socks feature the word  ALBA  which is the Gaelic word for Scotland and a new construction features materials that add comfort to the foot-bed and provide Achilles support.
