Umbro Launch 2012/13 Manchester City Home & Away Kits

Umbro Launch 2012/13 Manchester City Home & Away Kits

As they return to action as the reigning Premier League champions, Manchester City will be sporting these smart new Umbro shirts. To celebrate the launch of the new strips, Umbro and MCFC brought together club captain Vincent Kompany with Oasis legend Noel Gallagher at the Rock Werchter Festival in Belgium.

The former Oasis guitarist isn't the first Gallagher to help launch a City kit, with younger brother Liam being one of the first to reveal last season's title-winning jersey. The new MCFC home shirt retains City's iconic sky blue colour while the new away shirt sees a return to the classic maroon design.

With smart front body darting for a fitted, tailored look, the Premier League champions will be looking for further success in this simple design. The iconic MCFC crest is embroidered in a two colour design, while the Umbro logo and the club's sponsor feature in a tonal black.

The new MCFC home shirt is completed with a subtle needle finish on the hem and sleeves. With special stretch fabric on the arms, the new Manchester City home and away shirts provide increased movement and comfort.

The new 2012 Manchester City away strip is inspired by the one-off shirts that City heroes wore for their 1956 FA Cup final victory and celebrates The Blues historic triumph in the final of last year's competition. Embroidered with the Umbro diamond and with an applique club crest on the chest, the new away shirt is an undeniably stylish design.

Life-long Manchester City fan Noel Gallagher said: 'The new home kit is pure class. It might be the best one we ve had in a decade. As modern and radical as it is though, it s nice to see Umbro keeping our heritage alive in the new away kit. The best dressed defending champions of all time? No doubt.'

The former Oasis and High Flying Bird's singer joined MCFC captain Vincent Kompany as part of the Umbro "Show Your City" campaign. Earlier this season, Umbro and City invited fans to come up with ideas to launch the Blues new kits.

Over the coming weeks, a series of Show Your City fan launches will be released; starting with shots captured by music photographer and City fan Kevin Cummins. Famous for his images of iconic Manchester bands such as Joy Division, The Smiths and The Stone Roses - Cummins captured the shots of Gallagher and Kompany in Belgium.

The 2012/13 home and away shirts will be Umbro's final collaboration with MCFC. From 2013, Nike will overtake the design of Manchester City replica as part of a new deal reached with the Premier League champions. After a consistent line of classy designs, Umbro are signing off in style.
