Continuing to dominate a collaborative space on independent streets, Umbro have linked up with creative football collective Guerrilla FC for their latest release.
Founded in 2016, Guerrilla FC is a collective that embodies football culture and while expanding as a fashion brand come football squad, they offer an underlying belief in revolution on and off the pitch. Guerrilla emerged from Washington, but now has bases in London and Milan with plans to expand to LA in 2018. The 2018 home shirt starts the first of several link ups with that of the double diamond as Umbro keep up the collab game.
The club and brand have taken due care and attention where the design of the shirt is concerned and while devoted to aesthetic, their style is encapsulated by the subtle touches that are spread across the shirt. Firstly a camouflage, tri-colored use of leaves in tone-on-tone white is joined with a chrome and holographic vinyl which escalates from the bottom of the shirt to the top. Similarly, the hashmarks on the left sleeve are an homage to Italian philosopher Antonio Gramsci, who spent years in prison and wrote about changing the world through culture. The shirt's reverse is decorated with Cyrillic font (which reads phonetically as 'Guerrilla') as a tribute to the World Cup in Russia next year.
Big shapes and a tailored finish. The Guerrilla FC 2018 Umbro Home Kit is available now.
