Swedish side AIK consolidated their position as the replica mavericks at the weekend by following up their hugely successful Nike 'Black Pack' with another throwback, limited edition strip – this time in all white.
AIK have already worn their Nike 'Black Pack' kit that was inspired by the club's kit in 1901, and now they've returned to the pitch by wearing an all-white offering from 1900. Playing a friendly match against FC Midtjylland of Denmark in Dubai on Saturday, the AIK boys changed into a strip that pays tribute to the kit that was worn during the club's first championship 118 years ago.
The bold AIK letters across the chest mirror the 1900 shirt that was worn on July 29th 1900, as AIK defeated Örgryte IS 1-0 in the championship final. Not only did the current crop of players wear the kit for the friendly in Dubai, they also replicated the team photograph from 1900, just as they did for the all-black strip last week.
It's fair to say that the Nike AIK black and white shirts have been popular, with the latest white jersey selling out in under six minutes. The good news is that the club have launched a wider collection of the collaboration with Nike, ranging from on pitch attire to straight up streetwear. AIK will also remain in the white strip for the rest of their pre-season games, and for the Swedish cup. And you've just got yourself a new favourite Swedish team, haven't you...
