Nike and England show their hand for Russia 2018 by launching the new home shirt to be worn at the World Cup this summer. Building on the recent success of their youth, the Three Lions look to continue their upward trend in traditional style with modern detailing.

The emphasis is very much placed on the future as England rope in some their most exciting prospects to launch the new 2018 World Cup home shirt. Joe Gomez and Marcus Rashford join Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling showcase the home shirt that is predictably minimal in white, but with subtle details of tradition throughout.

A classic look is adopted by Nike, as the white shirt with red trimming is met with blue shorts, and white socks. A modern rib collar is backed by a small St. George’s Cross and a blue Swoosh on the chest that complements the famous Three Lions crest in its traditional colors. A lonely star heralding the 1966 success sits above the crest in silver.

A welcomed addition to both the home shirt and away shirt is the custom typeface used for players names. The typeface is taken from Johnston and Gil Sans, both quintessentially English fonts (the former with overground transport and the latter for association with London’s underground).

We have to save a special word for the numbers on the front of the shirt. Beautifully throwback as it sits off centre. A nice finishing touch that gives the clean body an added feature.
