Nike unveil the Tottenham Hotspur 2018/19 third shirt just in time for the players to wear it this afternoon in Spurs' Premier League opener away to Newcastle United.

Nike took a bit of stick for the new Spurs away kit, with a lot of comments comparing it to the Barcelona training jersey of last season, but the new 18/19 third shirt is straight from a bespoke place, inspired by a combination of territorial pride and club heritage. Tottenham's impact in North London is depicted in a graphic which runs through the darkness of the upper half of the shirt with hard, geometric design elements drawing references from the Club’s iconic kits of 85/86, 86/87 and 91/92.

From a distance the new third shirt is beautifully alternative in a combination of modern colouring. On closer inspection, the pattern transforms into an aerial depiction of the Club’s locality in Haringey. The 18/19 Nike third shirt will mainly be worn during the Tottenham's European campaign this season and the occasional outing in domestic competitions, starting at St James' Park today.

Neptune Green, found on the body, shorts and socks of the new Tottenham Hotspur third kit, draws inspiration from the original Charrington’s Brewery logo, the company that originally owned part of the land where the new stadium has been built. Now you know.
