Nike Unveil Stunning Matildas 2019 WWC Home Shirt

Nike throw down some patterns of perfection for the Matildas 2019 Women's World Cup home shirt with a beautifully bespoke design that highlights Australia’s exuberant spirit. The countdown to kick off is well and truly on and the Aussies will be arriving in statement style to do business.

Nike caused shockwaves around the replica world with their Nigeria home shirt for the 2018 Men's World Cup in Russia, and they've delivered more experimental gold for 2019 in the form of the Australia home shirt which embraces the more extravagant side of design, and executes it with immense precision.

A consistent fixture on the world stage, the Matildas have qualified for every tournament since 1995 and reached the quarters in the last three contests. They're an ever-present to the world's biggest footballing party, and their dress code for this shindig is wild. Captained by the dynamic Sam Kerr, one of the most prolific strikers in the game, the current squad has been described by many as the best female team in Australian history. The Australia home kit, part of a first-ever National Team collection designed exclusively for the Matildas, channels an exuberant aesthetic born in the early ’90s. Melbourne’s famous Hosier Lane, a globally recognized street art hot spot, the famed Golden Wattle and its sickle-shaped stalks and macro and micro shots of the Australian landscape all coalesce in the graphic — one that serves to encapsulate all of contemporary Australia.

“The kit is unreal, it’s such a different take on what we've seen in the past and we couldn’t have hoped for a better looking home jersey,” says Sam Kerr. “To have a kit designed just for the Matildas to play in, it’s a dream come true, and we are honored to be pulling on the green and gold. The socks are pretty wild too. We’re a part of the Socceroo family, but we’re so different, we’re such a different team to the men's team so it’s really exciting to show our own vibe."

The words “Never Say Die” are printed inside the kit, a reference to a common rallying cry among the Matildas, and the kit will debut on the Matildas on April 5 against the USA in Colorado. It'll be available in men’s, women’s and kids sizes from 12 March.
