Celebrating the 30 years of partnership between club and brand, Nike launch the Paris Saint-Germain 2019/20 third shirt. Continuing the retro theme that has run throughout Nike’s third kits this season, the PSG shirt draws influence from the club's 1989/90 look.

It’s been teased for a while now, but the Paris Saint-Germain 2019/20 third shirt is finally here, and it’s been well worth the wait, rounding out a strong selection from the Swoosh. Following in the same pattern of 90s-inspired designs, the PSG third shirt’s template is an almost exact replica of the club’s classic kit crafted in 1989 – a white jersey topped by a fold over button-down collar and decorated by a vivid red and blue vertical stripe, which runs the length of the shirt.

As well as the overall design similarities with the 89/90 shirt, this design also features several other touches that further enhance the retro feels. One of the most notable is the return of the Nike Futura logo, something we’ve pleasingly seen uniformly rolled out across all of Nike’s third options this season. This is joined by a jacquard pattern rising from the fabric, which takes the form of diagonal stripes with the word "Paris" subtly incorporated into the design. The collar is fastened by two special pearlescent buttons, which are inscribed with a further tribute to PSG’s relationship with Nike.

PSG’s jersey archive is like a treasure trove for football fans,” explains Pete Hoppins, Nike Football Apparel Senior Design Director. “So, the chance to bring back an all-time classic and put our stamp on it was a particularly exciting opportunity. Once we saw how good the jacquard pattern and retro logo looked, it actually fed into our decision to use these as themes throughout our entire range of 2019-20 third kits.
