A year on from the tragic death of Emiliano Sala, FC Nantes and New Balance have produced a limited edition shirt in memory of the striker, which they will wear against Bordeaux this weekend. The design features vertical blue and white stripes, drawing inspiration from the trademark look of the Argentina national team, Sala’s home country.
Emiliano Sala was in the process of joining Cardiff City when his plane disappeared over the English Channel exactly one year ago today. After weeks of searching, the plane was eventually found and Sala was laid to rest. Now Nantes are set to pay tribute to their former striker with a special edition shirt that they will wear in their match against Bordeaux this weekend.
The design of the special edition tribute shirt sees a white base with light blue horizontal striping stacked together to make up the blue vertical striping in a move that’s very reminiscent of Argentina’s 2019 Copa America Shirt.
The shirt is limited to a release of just 800, and in a classy move from the club and brand together, all proceeds from the sales will go to Sala's two youth teams in Argentina, San Martín de Progreso and Club Proyecto Crecer.
