With the 2020 MLS season set to get underway in just five days time, Inter Miami – one of the two new additions to the league this year – have revealed their first-ever home jersey for their inaugural campaign. A clean white design for Beckham’s boys that contrasts nicely with the already revealed black and pink away strip.
David Beckham begins the next chapter of his MLS adventure on Sunday when his new Inter Miami side head to the Banc of California Stadium for a clash against LAFC in what will be something of a baptism of fire for the debutants. And now we know what they will be wearing, with the club following up the reveal of their away jersey – something that was done as part of the full MLS 2020 EQT kit launch at the Forward25 event – by launching their new home jersey.
In the build up to the club’s debut season there’s been a lot of speculation about the look the team would adopt, and from the moment Beckham unveiled the logo for his new team back in 2018 it was clear that pink would likely play a prominent role in the design, and sure enough that's been confirmed with a pastel-style. With the away jersey taking black for its base colour it makes sense that the home then utilises white, in line with the MLS’s policy of every team having a light and dark option.
The clean design sees a round collar with a single button placket for a nice differential to most other shirts currently in use in the league, however the supporters’ version opts for a classic crew neck collar. Pink detailing takes its place on the Three Stripes, which run traditionally from neck to arm on both shoulders as opposed to the iconic EQT over-the-single-shoulder look that’s been introduced across the league. Further pink pops feature on the sleeve cuffs and through the adidas branding on the chest.
A sublimated print of the back-to-back herons from the club’s crest features throughout the body of the jersey, as it does on the away option, while the club crest is in black for a standout sign-off. A smart little Miami print also sits on the rear of the neck for an added sense of bespoke style. All eyes will be on Los Angeles on Sunday to see how this new franchise fares, and Vice City 1896, Miami’s supporters group, are sure to be there in force, dressed out in the white and pink of the new home jersey.
