Nike FC Launch The Vibrant 'South Mexico City' Collection

Inspired by Mexico City and the Mexico 1970 World Cup, Nike F.C. have launched the ‘South Mexico City’ collection; a vibrant affair that features wild retro graphics and shades, celebrating the bold and vibrant culture rooted in the streets of the city.

Taking aim at the colourful history of culture and art that Mexico City is renowned for, the Nike F.C.  collection pays particular attention to the decoration surrounding the 1970 World Cup for an offering that pays homage to the city. Having grown up there, Hirving Lozano serves as the face of the collection, while a ‘Mexico City’ edition of the Nike Mercurial Superfly VII TF is undoubtedly the centrepiece of the capsule.

There was an indication that this collection may be on the way when Lozano wore a Nike Mercurial Vapor XIII dressed out in what we now know is the wild Nike F.C. Mexico City graphics during Mexico’s 3-2 friendly win over South Korea back in November. The design on the Mercurial Superfly VII TF lifts that design off the pitch for the small-sided game. That’s right, the Vapors that Lozano wore appear to have been specially made for him only, with the turf-edition Superflys being the only pair available for retail in this collection. Shame.

Also in the collection is an asphalt jersey featuring multicolour logos and graphics, with the back showing a red “MEX” spell-out, while a colour-blocked Nike FC logo and official Nike FC patch decorate the front. That’s joined by a black hoodie that shows a “Ciudad de Mexico” panel on the front, complete with a blue, gold, and red decorative design. The same 'Ciudad de Mexico' panel can be seen on a white tee in the collection, though this graphic comes in orange, black, and light blue.

The Nike F.C. South Mexico City collection is currently only available in selected countries, with Mexico obviously being one of them...
