Barcelona Unveil New Special Edition Shirt For El Clasico

For the first time ever, Barça combines its famous club colours with the four bars of the Senyera, the Catalan flag for a special edition shirt that will be worn in the next El Clásico in April.

Everyone knows how big the Clásico is. Getting dressed out accordingly for the occasion, Barcelona have unveiled a new special edition shirt that they will wear as a one off for the next clash with Real Madrid, due to take place in April at the Santiago Bernabéu. The design of the shirt seeks to highlight the Catalan character and the pride of being Barça, together with the club’s roots and its identity linked to Catalonia.

To achieve this the shirt sees the club’s traditional vertical stripe design incorporated with the Senyera flag and its four bars, which start from the bottom and gradually fade to the chest area. Also, in the central blue stripe, the silhouette of the flag is appreciated thanks to the use of different shades of blue, which in this case do reach the neck, which in this design is framed by a coloured border.

FC Barcelona is launching, under the motto ‘A t-shirt makes us twins’, the new shirt that the first team players will wear against Real Madrid in the next Clásico, scheduled for April at the Madrid club’s facilities. This is a special edition to play this single match and in which, for the first time, Barça's colors and the four red and yellow bars of the flag are combined.

"If you need reasons to give it your all in times as hard as this, don't look outside. They are inside each one of us,” Carlos Puyol said for the launch.

As with the majority of Nike kits these days, 100 percent recycled polyester has been used for the production of the shirt, obtained from recycled plastic bottles that are melted to obtain a very fine thread. In this way, a fabric is obtained that allows the best performance in sports practice and has less impact on the environment.

The shirt is also joined by a new anthem jacket, which sees the classic maroon and navy club colourings split by the red and yellow stripes. It isn’t currently clear when this will be worn, although it would make sense if it joined the shirt in being used for the Clásico at least.

The Barcelona El Clásico shirt will be available from 1 February at prodirectsoccer.com
