Celebrating 130 years of impeccable player’s style, AIK have today unveiled the limited ‘CXXX Edition’ preseason jersey. The shirt lands as part of the club’s 130th anniversary, and is accompanied by a broader apparel collection and premium presentation box.
AIK have carved out a reputation over the years as one of the world’s most stylish clubs. Over the last few years they have bolstered this reputation through their partnership with Nike, producing some of the sleekest special edition shirts ever seen. Last time around, the shirt honoured the team’s legacy as the “Tuxedo Squad”, and this latest masterpiece tells a new story in the club’s prestigious history while also honouring their 130th anniversary.
Following yesterday’s tease, AIK now unveil the shirt in full, giving us a proper look at what is known as the ‘CXXX Edition’ preseason jersey. The design sees seven golden stripes over the chest in a chevron-esque execution, leading to the big golden emblem in the middle of the jersey – a tribute to the 130 year anniversary of the original club brand from 1891.
Details such as oars, fencing swords, rifles, bikes, skis, and fishing rods are balanced against Nike’s swoosh and the text “1891”, which is also in gold and rests above the emblem. The broader sporting references, like fishing and rowing, encapsulate what AIK was founded for – being the sports club for everyone.
“AIK is everywhere and is for everyone,” said Matilda Rosqvist, women’s club captain. “That this year’s preseason jersey uses the club’s original emblem together with elements from such differing sports like fishing and rowing, shows the club’s origins in an inspiring way. To add to that, all the earnings made from the jerseys will go toward creating sport training opportunities for more youth. This also complements the idea of a club for everyone.”
All proceeds from the sales of the shirts will go toward making it possible for young athletes to participate at the Stadium Sports Camp in Norrköping this summer. Stadium Sports Camp is Sweden’s biggest sport and activity camp, and offers a variety of sports and activities to try out.
