Taking their relationship into a second – and very special – year, adidas and Cruzeiro have launched the clubs special 100 year anniversary shirt, which will serve as their home shirt for the coming 2021 campaign.
Cruzeiro head into their 100th year in a position that they would not want to be in: facing another season in Serie B following a mid table finish in the previous campaign. But that won’t deter the celebrations for the historic club, and adidas, back for a second season following the end of Umbro’s tenure, are helping out by producing a special centenary shirt, which the club will use as their home shirt.
Celebrating Cruzeiro's 100-year history of success, the shirt features gold accents, present in the gloriously minimal star club crest, adidas logo, numbers, names and sponsors' brands. Another big news is the adoption of the all blue uniform as the main for the 2021 season. In honour of the roots of the club, the shirt also features the flag of Italy on the sleeves and the inscription “100 years”. There is also a commemorative patch in celebration of the anniversary stamped at the nape of the neck on the back.
“Cruzeiro already had very nice shirts, but this is in fact a very special and representative material, which symbolises well how great the history of our Cruzeiro is,” explained Sérgio Santos Rodrigues, president of Cruzeiro. “It is a uniform that represents the relevance of the Centenary year and I am sure that it will be on the podium of the most important shirts in the history of the Club. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the support of our partners, who allowed their companies' brands to be present in the shirt in golden colour.”
