adidas Launch River Plate 21/22 Home Shirt

Celebrating the club’s 120 year anniversary, adidas launch the River Plate 21/22 home shirt. The design lands with the club’s traditional red sash over the white base, with additional details included to celebrate the milestone.

At first glance, the River Plate 21/22 home shirt is a bit of a spot-the-difference from last year’s kit, which only dropped back in November. In fairness, the Argentinian side’s home look rarely changes that much. But this year’s subtle tweaks see a change up in the Three Stripe colouring, from silver to red, ensuring the colourings are only the classic white, red and black.

And that black features mainly in the new collar. The sash becomes a little wider, and it is no longer the ‘Eternal Stripe’ that was the standout feature of last season’s look, where the sash was uninterrupted. Here though, it breaks for the Three Stripe branding on the shoulder, as it has done in the past. On the back, at the nape of the neck, appears the legend “Grandeza”, while below it is the stylised inscription “1901-2021”, alluding to River's 120 years. Simple but effective.
