Brighton Debut 21/22 Home Kit In Win Over Man City

It was a special night at the Amex last night; not only was it Brighton’s last home game of the season, it was against the newly crowned Premier League champions. Dressing for the occasion, Albion debuted their new home kit for the 21/22 season. And what a debut to give it, all witnessed by the returning fans.

Picture the scene: it’s the last home game of the season, and the first in front of fans in 2021. You’re debuting your new home shirt for the following season as you welcome Premier League champions Manchester City to the Amex. Within two minutes you’re already 0-1 down. By half time it’s 0-2, despite the visitors being reduced to 10 men. This was not how it was supposed to go. But that didn’t seem to bother Graham Potter’s men. Brighton rallied from this position to ultimately win the game 3-2, going someway to making up for all the minutes that those fans have missed, and ensuring that life in their new kit got off to the best possible start.

So that kit then, somewhat overshadowed by the immensity of the comeback. The start of the 2021/22 season will mark ten years at the American Express Community Stadium, and to mark the occasion, the new home shirt returns to a more traditional striped design, following on from the pinstripe look of their 20/21 home shirt. The classic blue and white is joined by yellow detail that flash through the Swoosh and the side strips. There’s also a nod to the club’s decade at the Amex with an inscription on the inside back of the shirt. Working with Nike, the design is not only a classic Albion shirt with a twist of striped sleeves, but it is also their most sustainable shirt to date, having been made from 100% recycled polyester fibres.
