Dressing out their United States stars in stripes for a fresh new look, Nike unveil the new away jersey for both the men’s and women’s national teams. The jersey features a distorted stripe design inspired by the flying American flag.
Inspired by the waving Stars and Stripes and made with at least 75 percent recycled polyester, the new U.S. away kit replicates the on-pitch energy of the iconic U.S. National Teams. The fresh new design instantly conjures images of what Nike have done with Inter Milan in the past, although this ramps it up to all new levels, and it’s a bold look that’s set to debut in the USWNT’s game against Nigeria tonight.
Taking navy and red as the primary colours, the shirt combines diagonal, horizontal and vertical stripes for an design that’s not too dissimilar to Manchester United’s third shirt from the season just gone, although the execution is aesthetically far more pleasing. The nation’s crest sits on the left of the chest, and for the women’s version that’s topped with the four stars that represent the four World Cup wins from their history.
