Quite possibly saving their best for last, adidas and Arsenal launch the club’s 21/22 third shirt, with a design that takes inspiration from the iconic lightning strike look from the 95/96 season.

Arsenal are set to be part of the opening fixture for the 21/22 season this Friday night when they travel to Brentford Community Stadium to take on newly promoted Brentford. And it they will do so in some serious style, with the launch of the club’s new third shirt, which brings back the striking lightning bolt design from the 90s. It joins the already released home and away shirts, leaving the Gunners with a clean sweep of kits for the campaign.

The design from the 95/96 season is revamped here, with the lightning bolt being replicated across the whole shirt in the same colour scheme as the original. The new design, which takes inspiration from 90s style and culture, also features a split colour adidas badge of sport – a call back to the EQT logos of the era. The shirt is a combination of a darker “Mystery Blue”, “Scarlett” and “Signal Cyah”, and will be accompanied with dark blue shorts and socks.

Commenting on the new shirt, Inigo Turner, design director at adidas, said: “Through the design lens of the 90’s London Zeitgeist, we reimagine this iconic moment in time with true club DNA & adidas design language from the era. The 2021/2022 Arsenal 3rd kit is for a whole new generation of Gunners to enjoy, and we hope the fans will really like it.
