Set for the European season, Nike and Liverpool unveil the club’s bright and bold 21/22 third shirt, which draws inspiration from one of the most iconic stands in football, The Kop and the community who have become the authentic voice of Liverpool Football Club.
Liverpool Football Club is steeped in history and heritage. This is a club that is dedicated to the fans and the surrounding community; the people that roar the team on week after week. After over a year of absence, it is these people – and specifically those that fill the famous Kop end – that are used as the inspiration for the club’s new third shirt for the 21/22 season.
Joining the home and away shirts for the campaign, the bold yellow jersey is representative of the club’s rich history in the colour. The red-and-yellow chequered trim on the collar draws on the passion of The Kop and the flags that fill the stands, while pinstripes highlight the tight bond between the club and its community.
On the nape of the neck, the 96-emblem encased by the eternal flames sits proudly in memory of the 96 children, women and men who lost their lives at Hillsborough. For the 2022-23 season, the 96 emblem will change to 97 in recognition of Andrew Devine, the 97th person unlawfully killed as a result of the Hillsborough disaster. Unfortunately, it was not possible to change the emblems for the 2021-22 campaign.
The new Liverpool FC Third kit that players will wear on the pitch as well as the replica jerseys for the fans are constructed with 100% recycled polyester fabric, which is made from recycled plastic bottles. This creates the kits that helps deliver peak performance with a lower impact on the environment.
