Taking inspiration from Boston’s Freedom Trail, New England Revolution launch their new primary kit from adidas for the 2022 MLS season, and it arrives as the first to boast the club’s new crest.
Back in November, Major League Soccer’s 2021 Supporters’ Shield winners New England Revolution unveiled their new club crest and brand identity, singling the end of an era as the last of the founding member clubs to change its logo. The new crest is rooted in the region’s history as the birthplace of the American Revolution, reflecting the resilient spirit of the people of New England, and now it takes its rightful place on the team’s new primary jersey for the 2022 campaign.
The bespoke pattern that appears throughout the body of the jersey is inspired by Boston’s Freedom Trail, a walking trail through the heart of Boston encompassing 16 historical sites from the American Revolution. For the first time since 2013, the jersey is accompanied by blue shorts to convey a bold one-colour look, one that rightly puts full focus on that new club crest. The Flag of New England, a staple of recent Revolution uniforms, remains on the back of the jersey’s neck. The shirt’s custom jock tag is a 96 inside the outline of the Revolution’s new seal, symbolising the club’s proud history as an original founding member of MLS.
