Borussia Dortmund To Wear Special Edition 'Danke' Shirt

To mark a return to full capacity in the Signal Iduna Park this weekend, PUMA and Borussia Dortmund have produced a special edition ‘Danke’ shirt, which the team will be wearing when they face RB Leipzig.

For the first time since 29 February 2020, following 763 days of the stadium either being empty or only partially full, Borussia Dortmund will once again play in front of a capacity crowd at Signal Iduna Park this weekend. To mark the occasion and to thank each and every member of the Black and Yellow family for their support and loyalty over the past two difficult years, a special edition shirt has been produced, incorporating the names of all 978 official Dortmund fan clubs in a graphic that spells out the word ‘Danke’.

The graphic is a not too subtle addition to the regular Dortmund 21/22 home shirt, appearing on the torso area, below the ‘1&1’ sponsor. But it’s a nice gesture to the 65,000 members of the official fan clubs across the globe, and it represents all supporters of Borussia Dortmund.

The game against Leipzig on Saturday, 2 April, is the first time the team will play in front of a capacity crowd since the early days of the pandemic, and it means that players like Jude Bellingham have never experienced the full atmosphere of the Westfalenstadion at capacity and the 24,454 full Südtribüne (South Bank), the largest terrace for standing spectators in European football, also known as the Yellow Wall. Should be quite the occasion.
