Inter Miami Head Back To The Caymans To Launch 2022 Primeblue Jersey

Carrying on the fight against ocean pollution, for the second consecutive year Inter Miami CF went underwater to launch their Primeblue adidas jersey, which is made with recycled ocean plastic, and to highlight the beauty of a healthy ocean.

Building on the club's 2021 campaign for the second instalment of what’s set to be a three-part project, Inter Miami returned to the Cayman Islands to team up again with internationally acclaimed underwater photographer Jason Washington, and Cayman Islands-born freediving model and competitive swimmer Coral Tomascik to capture the launch of the 2022 Inter Miami Primeblue jersey.

Everyone at the club was excited to work with Jason, Coral, adidas and MLS again on such an important initiative as reducing plastic pollution in the Ocean,” said Inter Miami CF SVP, Brand and Marketing, Mike Ridley. “This year we really wanted to find a way to highlight the fact that when the Oceans are clear of plastic, marine life will repopulate and ultimately flourish, which is critical to a healthy ecosystem.

To portray this message, the team and Washington shot at the world-famous Stingray City with underwater freediving model Coral Tomasik wearing the Inter Miami / adidas Primeblue jersey, swimming freely with the Stingrays in the open ocean. “Cayman does an incredibly good job of keeping their oceans clean,” Ridley went on, explaining why the location is such a perfect backdrop for the launch. “We feel that this shoot is pretty impactful. It’s completely natural. It symbolises a build on last year, which focused on Coral as a protector of the ocean, and now she’s swimming freely with the marine life because the oceans are clear of plastic. That’s really the key message here.

There are a lot of jerseys that come out each year with a lot of debate on if it’s gone too far, but this one has a story that is really key, because it goes into an MLS pillar that lines up with the values of the club and with adidas too. So you’ve got three companies, all with the same values – we all agree on this mission, so it’s a nice one to work on.

The Primeblue jerseys, which are made from plastics intercepted from beaches, coastal communities, and shorelines, preventing them from polluting the ocean are part of a League-wide initiative with Major League Soccer and adidas to raise awareness around plastic pollution, and they will be worn by all MLS clubs this weekend with Inter Miami donning the kit on Saturday, 28 May when they host the Portland Timbers at DRV PNK Stadium.

Inter Miami CF Primeblue jerseys are available for purchase on MLSstore.com beginning today and will be available at the stadium team store beginning on Saturday, 28 May while supplies last. The first 70 fans to purchase a Primeblue jersey at the team store on Saturday will receive an adidas reusable water bottle with purchase.
