Following another fan-based kit design contest, Atletico Mineiro have unveiled their 2022 Manto Da Massa shirt, produced by Le Coq Sportif, and it features details of the most important moments in the club’s history, as well as a nod to their new stadium, Arena MRV, which is set to be used from 2023.
Atletico Mineiro’s Manto Da Massa competition really hit new heights last year with the winning design propelling the Brazilian club on to a lot of people’s radar. And the competition format has been back in full swing this year, with the winning design for 22/23 now being unveiled. After 69,933 votes, Atlético's fans chose comic book artist Will Rios's project, which has callouts to the most important moments in the history of the Rooster, while also featuring a nod to Arena MRV, the club’s future home.
The design sees a predominantly black base embellished by silver accents and the stripe design that features embedded graphics within. They showcase various moments from the club’s history, such as the first Mineiro Championship from 1915, the 1971 Brazilian Championship, the 2013 Libertadores, and the most recent treble haul from last season.
Will Rios' project won against the 946 projects submitted through the specific website, and the more than 69 thousand votes represents a record in the history of the contest. The winning shirt had almost 18 thousand votes, which equates to 25.53 percent of the total.
The Atletico Mineiro 2022 Manto Da Massa shirt will be available to purchase from 13 May.
