Marking the 10 year anniversary of that iconic Aguero strike, PUMA have launched the special edition “93:20” collection for Manchester City, which features a prematch jersey and Ultra 1.4 boot.
Getting over the disappointment of their Champions League exit in the best way possible, Man City destroyed Newcastle this weekend to reassert their position at the head of the Premier League. And prior to the match they debuted their new special edition prematch jersey from PUMA, which celebrates the 10 year anniversary of Sergio Aguero’s Premier League title-winning goal. It arrives alongside a new Ultra 1.4 as part of the “93:20” collection.
The collection arrives with plenty of callouts to the legendary Argentinian striker, who earned cult status at the club over his ten year stint. The pre-match jersey features a white base with light blue hoops and navy and gold detailing, instantly bringing the kit of Aguero’s home country to mind. The iconic 93:20 goal is immortalised inside the hoops using historical footage of Aguero’s late winner that captured City’s first Premier League title. Each image tells the story of the famous goal, embedded into the fabric of the jersey. The shirt comes with the number 10, which Aguero wore for the majority of his career at City, despite the fact he was wearing the number 16 when he scored the goal that this shirt pays homage to. A few extra o’s have also been added to the end of his name in a nod to Martin Tyler’s memorable commentary.
Only 2012 limited-edition jerseys will be released to signify the year the goal was scored, with each jersey featuring a unique number located on the waistband and 93:20 sign-off on the neck.
Alongside the shirt, the Ultra 1.4 boots have been designed with the same colour palette of the original PUMA v1.11 boots that Aguero was wearing when he scored that famous goal.
Only 120 pairs of the limited-edition “Nrgy Blue/Green Glare” boots have been created in homage to the goal. The upper and insole of the 93:20 boot integrates the “Manchester City are still alive here” commentary, with custom 93:20 graphics on the outside of the boot.
The PUMA x Manchester City "93:20" collection will be available at prodirectsoccer.com from 13 May.
