Arriving as what is likely to be the final home offering of their tenure, PUMA have unveiled the Italy 2022 home shirt, which features a design that nods to the Azzurri’s four World Cup successes.
So PUMA and Italy’s partnership will not quite end on the high that both brand and nation may have hoped, after the Azzurri failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. With adidas set to take over kit supply for the Italians come January 2023, the reveal of their latest home shirt also comes as the last from PUMA, with it set to see out the rest of the year and the UEFA Nations League fixtures to come.
And while the partnership may be ending on a low, it certainly featured a huge high in the form of the 2006 World Cup win, Italy’s fourth in their history. And it’s from the quadruple success that PUMA take inspiration for this latest and last home design. Featuring gold accents, retro fonts, and proud references to the triumphs of 1934, 1938, 1982, and 2006, the front of the jersey is split into tonal quadrants to honour the four generations of World Champions.
