Nike Launch Barcelona 22/23 Away Shirt

Taking inspiration from all of the gold medals that were dished out 30 years ago in the city, Nike unveil the Barcelona 22/23 away shirt, which appropriately comes in an all-over gold colour.

Barcelona hosted the Olympic Games 30 years ago this year, and to mark the occasion Nike have drawn inspiration from the tournament for first, the design of the Barcelona 22/23 home shirt, which dropped at the beginning of the month, to now the club’s new away shirt. And for the shirt that the Catalan club will wear on the road there’s a specific moment that has influenced the design, and doesn't take a genius to figure out what that moment is: yep, the pinnacle of the competition, the gold medal.

In addition to the all-over gold colour, which features across the full kit, the colours of the five Olympic rings appear on the cuffs of the sleeves and on the socks.

And that’s not all. The upper of the shirt features a sublimated map of the city of Barcelona in a style that is not all that unlike Atletico Mineiro’s Manto Da Massa shirt from 2021 – not something we’re complaining about.

As with all of Nike’s major shirt releases for 22/23, the Barca away shirt arrives in the new Nike authentic 22/23 Vaporknit template, which features a new knit pattern. It’s the 2022 World Cup template that Nike will use for the upcoming tournament in Qatar, getting a run out ahead of the December showpiece. The modern, fitted template is designed to allow more dynamic movement thanks to panel cuts inspired by base-layer compression wear.
