Taking care of business in one hit, Adidas Brasil have unveiled new third shirts for Flamengo, Sao Paulo, Internacional and Cruzeiro, with three of those four teams already going on to debut their new looks.
Adidas Brasil have previous for grouping together their contingency for kit releases, albeit normally special edition shirts, and so this latest drop is more notable in that it sees the new regular third shirts for Flamengo, Sao Paulo, Internacional and Cruizero lined up together. Not so sure you’d get many European teams that would be too happy about having to get so up close and personal with their rivals for kit releases, but there you go. Of course, adidas now boast a fifth team in Atletico Mineiro, but with their home and away shirts having only just dropped, their third will likely come further down the line.
Flamengo
Debuted in the 5-0 mauling of Atletico Paranaense, the Flamengo third shirt could quite easily be the club's new home shirt, arriving as it does in the traditional red and black colours. But it was in fact rejected as a home shirt design, leaving it to be utilised as a third shirt. The design sees a wavy take on the club's classic hoop look.
Sao Paulo
Another winning debut as Sao Paulo showed off their new third kit in the 3-0 win over RB Bragantino. The design is based on a top worn pre-match when Sao Paulo defeated Barcelona to win the 1992 Intercontinental Cup. There's an interesting switch up between the men's and women's versions, with the collar being removed for the latter, just like on River Plate's new shirt. No idea why this is done...
SC Internacional
Yet to be debuted and yet you may get the feeling like you've seen this one before... certainly bears more than a passing resemblance to the 21/22 Ajax third shirt for us. This colour choice (with green on the right shoulder and sleeve cuff and yellow on the left, with red used for the sponsor, chest branding and club crest) is intended as a tribute to Internacional’s home state of Rio Grande do Sul, deploying the three colours of its flag, which also appear as a detail on the upper back.
Cruzeiro
The only team from this group outside of the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A, Cruzeiro are currently leading the charge in Serie B as they aim for a return to the top flight. The 1-1 with Chapecoense – in which they wore their new third shirt for the first time – didn't do their efforts too much harm. The design of this shirt acts as a celebration of the country of Brazil and its national team with a World Cup on the horizon, arriving in traditional canary yellow with blue trim, while the reverse also includes a seal referring to the 200th anniversary of Brazilian independence.
