Its debut in the Supercopa de Paraguay may not have gone the way they’d have hoped, but Club Olimpia have revealed their new away shirt for 2023 from Nike, presented in their trademark monochrome style.
For those on European shores, the name Club Olimpia may not be all that familiar, but if you’re scratching your head and wondering where you’ve heard of them then it could be down to the sublime third shirt that they were graced with from Nike last season. Now the brand have supplied the Paraguayan side with a smart away shirt that strikes the right chords thanks to a simple but effective balance of black and white.
The new Club Olimpia away shirt will be worn in the Paraguayan Championship and in the Libertadores da América this season, but it got its debut in the Paraguayan Super Cup yesterday. Coming into the game at the Defensores del Chaco stadium as last season’s league champions, El Decano would’ve been rightly confident, but their opponents, 2022 Paraguay Cup champion Sportivo Ameliano had enough to take the win 1-0.
While its not the start the club will have wanted for their new kit, it did standout for its classic execution. Reverting back to a horizontal white band following last year’s diagonal sash style, the design inverts the colours of the home shirt, but finishes it with a final flourish not present on that shirt in the form of the polo collar, which pops in white.
It also debuted alongside a new prematch shirt, which appeared in a combination of geometric shapes and panels, presented in black and grey. It's actually the same shirt used by RB Salzburg, and it's not a million miles away from what PUMA have been rolling out in the early part of the 22/23 season.
